A number of ideas are being explored (see below) to progress the integration of the mission statement into the life of the office.
Why not a full Environmental Policy?
It was considered that to launch a full EP at this stage would be misleading. The development of the new policy is at an early stage, and all members of staff (and Clients!) are invited to contribute.
The intention is that a fully detailed Environmental Policy will be adopted in due course when the necessary systems and management procedures are in place. Who is coordinating the changes? A small working group has been formed to meet regularly and ensure progress is being made. Are any specific areas being targeted?
The Environmental Working Group has identified 5 key areas for action, with indicators of progress attached.
EWG, March 2006 BREEAM Update The office has now had two members of staff trained as BREEAM assessors, and have started assessment on the first project. BS 8555 Environmental Management System Training has also been completed for BS 8555 (equivalent to ISO 14001 for small businesses) with Groundworks London, and implementation of Phase 1 has already commenced. In time strategies for all the areas listed above will come under the umbrella of BS 8555. BS 8555 Implementation Team, September 2007 |
